The Punjab Department, while modernizing its system, has made biometrics mandatory for registration of vehicles and their transfer. Members of Car Dealers Association have appreciated the digitization of excise system. At the same time, the Car Dealers Association has demanded the introduction of open letter facility for local car dealers.
According to DG Excise Rizwan Akram, from January 1, 2022, registration of all new vehicles will be done through this new biometric system instead of the old method. He further clarified that this biometric system is also linked to NADRA. Citizens and car dealers will now be able to avail the services of the Excise Department at their homes or workplaces. And now the buyer and seller of the car will have to reach the NADRA or excise office within thirty days and make the biometric process mandatory.
