حکومت کی جانب سے بجٹ میں ایل پی جی درآمد پر ٹیکس لگانے کی تیاریاں جاری ہے۔ اس سلسلے میں اسٹیک ہولڈرز نے وزیراعظم شہبازشریف کو خط لکھ دیا. جس میں فیصلہ پرنظرثانی کی درخواست کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے. کہ بجٹ میں ایل پی جی امپورٹ ڈیوٹی بڑھانےکا فیصلہ عوام کےساتھ ظلم ہے۔
چئیرمین ایل پی جی ڈسٹری بیوٹر ایسوسی ایشن پاکستان عرفان کھوکھر کا کہنا ہے کہ اگر ٹیکس لگ گیا تو فی سلنڈرقیمت 164 روپے تک بڑھ جائے گی۔ عرفان کھوکھر نے فیصلہ کےخلاف عیدالاضحی سےقبل ہڑتال کرنےکی دھمکی دے دی. اور کہا اٹھارہ فیصد ٹیکس کو بڑھانا امپورٹراورخریداردونوں کیلئے نقصان ہے۔
ان کا کہنا تھا کہ تین سو ایل پی جی مارکیٹنگ کمپنیاں درآمدی ایل پی جی پرانحصار کرتی ہیں. ملکی کھپت کو پورا کرنے کیلئے 60سے 70فیصد ایل پی جی درآمد کی جاتی ہے۔

Decision to Increase LPG Import Duty. The government is preparing to impose taxes on LPG imports in the upcoming budget. In response stakeholders have written a letter to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Requesting a reconsideration of the decision. Stating that increasing the import duty on LPG in the budget would be unfair to the public.
Chairman of the LPG Distributors Association Pakistan Irfan Khokhar stated that if the tax is implemented the price of an LPG cylinder could increase by up to 164 rupees. He threatened to go on strike before Eid al-Adha in protest of the decision. Arguing that an 18% tax hike would be detrimental to both importers and consumers.
He further mentioned that 300 LPG marketing companies rely on imported LPG. And 60 to 70 percent of the country’s LPG consumption is met through imports.
