May 9 Incident Cases Suspended Indefinitely

The hearing of all cases related to the May 9 incident has been suspended. A special anti terrorism court in Rawalpindi has adjourned the hearing of all 14 cases related to the May 9 incident indefinitely. Prosecutors for the government in these cases expressed no confidence in the judge and referred the matter to the High Court by filing a reference.

Significant progress has been made in the cases related to the May 9 incident. On May 9, all government prosecutors expressed no confidence in Judge Malik Aijaz Asif. Who was presiding over the court hearing the cases. And filed a reference in the Rawalpindi High Court bench to transfer the cases from him.

They argued that the judges in the Rawalpindi bar are biased and favour the defendants’ lawyers. Thus transferring the May 9 incident cases from them. Upon filing the reference the court suspended the hearing of all cases related to the May 9 incident. The suspension of the hearing resulted in the postponement of the distribution of charges and arrest warrants against all accused. Including the founder Chairman of the PTI, and others.

Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, former Prime Ministers Shibli Faraz, Shireen Mazari, Zartaj Gul, Raja Basharat, Shehryar Afridi, Rashid Shafique, and Colonel Ajmal Sabir, along with hundreds of PTI workers, were also present for the hearing today.

راولپنڈی: انسداد دہشت گردی کی خصوصی عدالت نے ضلع راولپنڈی کے سانحہ 9 مئی کے تمام 14 مقدمات کی سماعت غیر معینہ مدت تک روکتے ہوئے ملتوی کردی۔ مقدمات کے سرکاری چاروں پراسیکیوٹرز نے جج پر عدم اعتماد کرکے ہائی کورٹ میں ریفرنس دائر کر دیا۔

سانحہ 9 مئی کے مقدمات میں بڑی پیش رفت ہوگئی۔ نو مئی مقدمات کے تمام سرکاری پراسیکیوٹرز نے سماعت کرنے والی عدالت کے جج ملک اعجاز آصف پر عدم اعتماد کرتے ہوئے مقدمات ان سے ٹرانسفر کرانے کیلئے ہائی کورٹ راولپنڈی بنچ میں ریفرنس دائر کر دیا۔

انہوں نے مؤقف اختیار کیا کہ عدالت کے جج راولپنڈی بار کے ہیں یہ ملزمان کے وکلاء کو ریلیف دیتے ہیں۔ لہذا سانحہ 9 مئی مقدمات ان سے ٹرانسفر کئے جائیں۔

ریفرنس دائر ہونے پرعدالت نے سانحہ 9 مئی کے تمام مقدمات کی سماعت روک دی۔ سماعت روکے جانے سے بانی چیرمین پی ٹی آئی سمیت تمام ملزمان پر فرد جرم اور چالان نقول کی تقسیم بھی ٹل گئی۔

آج کیسز کی سماعت کے لیے سابق وزیر داخلہ شیخ رشید احمد ،سابق وزراء شبلی فراز، شیریں مزاری، زرتاج گل، راجہ بشارت،شہریار آفریدی ،راشد شفیق ،کرنل اجمل صابر سمیت پی ٹی آئی کے سینکڑوں ملزم کارکنان بھی پیشی کےلیے موجود تھے۔
